Deborah Brown

New York City Office of the Deputy Mayor for Health and Human Services
Chief Strategy and Innovation Officer for Health
Deborah Brown, JD, MSW is the Chief Strategy and Innovation Officer for Health in the New York City Office of the Deputy Mayor for Health and Human Services.  She is lucky enough to be the “designated thinker” on all manner of health and healthcare issues, supporting the Deputy Mayor and the Mayor’s Office broadly in developing equitable, cross-cutting, and long-term health programs and policies. Deb joined City Hall from Montefiore Health System, where she oversaw regulatory, planning, and advocacy initiatives to enhance the health system’s progression to value-based care. Deb is a recovering lawyer: she was previously Senior Vice President and Deputy General Counsel at the Greater New York Hospital Association and began her career as a trial attorney with the U.S. Department of Justice.

Deb holds a JD from Columbia Law School, an MSW from Columbia School of Social Work, and a BA from the University of Pennsylvania. When she’s not thinking about social determinants of health, she travels, reads mystery books, and desperately tries to seem relevant to her young teen and tween.
